Her recent figures explore the realm of embodiment—deliberately unmonumental, yet charged with quiet potency. Eschewing clear identifiers, they aim to evoke a grounded sensuality that holds space for time, culture, and gender. Her sculptures carry the weight of unrealized dreams—those whose voices were never fully heard, whose gestures linger at the edge of history. Each form speaks through the coexistence of absence and presence, without the need for explanation.
The viewer is asked to witness—to feel something begin where language ends.
Phidia의 조각은 몸에 대한 질문에서 시작된다.
가장 자연스럽고 온전한 몸—보이지 않아도 존재하는 감정과 기억, 돌봄이 스며든 몸의 감각을 탐색한다. 그의 작업은 그 몸이 뭔가를 증명하거나 방어하지 않아도 되는 상태, 그저 ‘존재하는’ 것에 가까운 감각을 만든다.
점토, 나무, 금속 같은 재료들은 그에게 시간과 감정이 스며든 가능성의 물질이다. 그는 이 재료들을 오랫동안 만지고 곁에 두다가, 어느 날 직관적인 흐름 속에서 조립한다. 그렇게 만들어진 조각은 한 시점에 멈춰 있는 것이 아니라, 서로 다른 시간들이 겹쳐진 모호한 자리에서 태어난다.
그래서인지 조각의 과정은 설명되기보다 감각으로 느껴진다. 마치 어디선가 발견된 자연물처럼 조용히 자리를 잡고, 그 안에 스며든 생명력을 관객에게 건네고자 한다. 이 조각들은 완성된 형태라기보다는 아직 말해지지 않은 몸짓들, 들리지 않았던 목소리들을 담고 있으며, 그렇게 존재함으로써 womanist futurity—포용과 연대, 그리고 여성주의적 미래성의 감각—을 향해 나아간다.
