Opener Project is a living-art initiative by artists Sijin Jung, Younjin Lee, and Phidia Kang, each of whom delves deeply into their chosen medium.
Together, they pose essential questions about the world they live in and the direction of life itself, carving out their own paths through painting, sculpture, and object-making.
Working primarily with cyclical, reworkable materials such as clay, wood, beeswax, pigment, and metal, the artists embrace and interpret the social and cultural traces embedded within these substances that shape our daily lives. Rather than offering clear answers, their works respond gently yet persistently to long-standing questions within each medium, opening up proposals for new possibilities.
Opener Project does not attempt to teach how to live with art.
Instead, it believes in the subtle shifts that can arise from small, everyday acts of attention.
These works do not aim for definitive truths, but move toward a more honest, expansive state of being—right here, right now.
Opener Project는 정시진, 이연진, Phidia Kang 세 작가가 각자의 매체를 깊이 탐구하며 시작한 ‘생활-예술 프로젝트’입니다.
세 작가는 동시대를 살아가는 방식과 예술의 존재 방식을 더 열린 상태로 연결하고자 하며, 자신이 다루는 물질에 각인된 사회적·문화적 특성을 섬세하게 포착하고 드러냅니다.
Opener Project는 예술과 함께 ‘잘 살아내는 법’을 고민합니다. 이들은 해답을 제시하기보다는, 각 매체가 품은 오래된 질문들에 유연하게 응답하며 일상 속 작은 응시에 주목합니다.
